In this article, we will try to see how to validate the payroll runs and find the delta between runs. We do not have any seeded reports which produce this kind of output between payroll runs. This Payroll Variance Dashboard helps us solve this issue.
This Dashboard was originally posted for the R12 release on Cloud Customer Connect. All credit to the original poster RyanPatrick.
From R13, there were some changes and the dashboard stopped working. I have fixed the dashboard to make it work and I have also posted the working version of the Dashboard on the Cloud Connect post.
Let’s check the dashboard now.
We need to select the Latest Payroll Process Date and the Previous Payroll Process Date which need to be compared against. We also need to select the Payroll Elements that need to be compared. We can also set the Variance Limit. Once we are done setting the parameters, we can click Apply and the Dashboard will show the results on the right hand side.

Next, we can traverse to the next tab “Latest Date Run Results”. It will show the results for the latest payroll process date selected.

Next, lets traverse to the “Previous Date Run Results”. It will show the details for the Previous payroll process date.

The dashboard can be exported to excel and it will download all tabs and all rows matching the filter criteria.

Try to restrict the data using filters, else the dashboard might get hanged if run for all elements.
Dashboard Catalog file:
This Dashboard should be imported to /Shared Folders/Custom/Human Capital Management/ folder. If you import to any other folder, the filters and analytics need to be remapped on the dashboard.
To view the data, the user needs to have the following data roles:
